Tim Bauer is an ARM executive with a wide range of experience in M&A, Operations, Compliance, Sales & Marketing, and Portfolio Acquisitions.

Tim is the President of insideARM and The iA Institute. He is also a member of the steering committee for the Consumer Relations Consortium (www.crconsortium.org).

Prior to joining insideARM Tim was CEO of Integrity Solution Services, Inc.

Before that Tim was engaged in a special capacity at Academy Collection Service, Inc. (ACS) from September, 2007 through February, 2009. He was hired at ACS to facilitate a settlement of an FTC investigation of ACS that had begun in 2006 and to explore a sale of the business. The settlement was announced in July of 2008. The company was sold later that same year.

From June of 2004 through October of 2006 Tim was with Outsourcing Solutions Inc (OSI) and OSI Portfolio Services (OSIPS). During this time Tim held dual simultaneous roles. He was Executive Vice President of OSI, responsible for all sales and marketing efforts, and he was President of OSIPS, responsible for Portfolio Acquisitions.

Prior to joining OSI, Tim was Executive Vice President of Business Development at Risk Management Alternatives, Inc. (RMA) and subsequently the Chief Operating Officer. Tim was with RMA from January 1997 though February, 2004.

Before joining RMA, Tim was a Senior Vice President of the Legal Products Group for Nationwide Credit, Inc. (NCI).

Prior to joining the Agency world, Tim spent 15 years as a Shareholder with the Minneapolis law firm of Messerli & Kramer, P.A., where he was head of that firms Credit/Collections Department.

Tim was one of the founding members of the first national attorney network, the American Association of Creditor Attorneys (AACA). He was President of that organization from 1991-1992 and Vice-President from 1987-1991 and from 1992-1995.

Tim obtained his B.A. from St. Marys University of Minnesota and his J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago, School of Law.

When one grows up in a family that includes a brother who became a priest, a sister who became a nun, and another brother who had a career as a stand-up comic, you know one is going to have a unique perspective on life. This perspective enabled Tim Bauer to have a career in the collections industry that is wide and deep.

So how did Tim get into the collections industry?  As a fresh attorney just out of law school and joining a full-service law firm, his initial assignment was in collections.  From that first day, he never left the industry. Being a collections attorney provided Tim with the foundation to understand the industry. This foundation enabled him to be successful in all facets of the industry that included: operations, human resources, compliance, business development and M&A. Today, he has taken this breadth of experience and is the President of InsideARM, in which his ideas and writings are having an influence on the total industry.

Here is a glimpse of what Tim shared in the interview. “Nobody goes to law school and says, “I can’t wait to get out and be a collection lawyer.”

“ It’s hard to argue against consumer protection. And quite frankly, those of us in the ARM industry, we would love to see some more regulation on the FDCPA. It’s a statute from 1977, completely outdated, doesn’t address issues of how consumers want to be contacted today”

Adam Princenthal is a founding member of Princenthal & May and leads the firm’s personal injury department. With more than fifteen years of experience, Adam has recovered tens of millions of dollars in trial verdicts and settlements on behalf of victims and families who have suffered serious personal injury or the wrongful death of a loved one as the result of motor vehicle collisions, trucking accidents, defective products, dangerous premises, medical malpractice and other negligent behavior. Raised in New York City, Adam travelled across the country to attend the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. He was then offered a full scholarship to attend law school at Georgia State University College of Law in Atlanta. While in law school, Adam served on the school’s Law Review, competed in national competitions as a member of the school’s Trial Lawyers Association, and won several awards and recognitions. He graduated Magna Cum Laude, receiving his Juris Doctorate in 1999. He then accepted a position with one of the biggest law firms in Atlanta, where he represented national and international corporations in complex business litigation. Adam soon realized, however, that his true passion was to represent real people, not large companies, and to fight for those who have been injured by others. Adam left the “big firm” and has since focused his practice on obtaining justice for victims of serious personal injury and wrongful death. Adam is admitted to practice in the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and all of the Superior and State Courts within the State of Georgia. He is also admitted to the Federal Bar and practices in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and he United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. Adam is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association of Justice, the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Adam lives in Marietta, in Cobb County, Georgia, with his wife Karen and their two children.

Guest BIO: Cassius F. Butts was appointed by President Barack Obama in 2011. He is responsible for the delivery of SBA programs in Region IV comprised of the eight Southeastern states. During his appointment, Cassius has managed oversight of five record breaking years for SBA lending in Region IV. Nearly $20 billion in SBA-backed loans were awarded to small businesses within Region IV. Under Cassius’s leadership, we have witnessed historic lending, record-breaking government contracting dollars awarded and the highest number of entrepreneurs trained and counseled in SBA history.

Cassius is a serial 15-year entrepreneur and college professor and was previously employed with the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Since 1992, Cassius has worked in leadership positions for Bank of America, Fleet Bank, and the City of Atlanta. As a small business owner, he co-founded CB Consulting Group, LLC.

I was nervous at first, but I loved the message. I love to master things, so I studied, learned from others and allowed myself to be open to critique. So, nearly two years and over 13,000 trainees later not only had I become an excellent trainer and coach, I had been bitten by the bug and I was hooked!

Grapes on the Vine - My motivation for being in this business is to help people who are lost. My experience has shown me that many adults are stressed out, frustrated, and burned out; not developing because they are unaware they can change or they don’t know how. They are dying on the vine. I know because I was one of those people. I was an overly critical complainer; going home to work and work to home, I had no clear direction on what I wanted, but I was good at pointing out the flaws in others.

Real Change Begins with “I” - The book “Personality Plus” changed my life. It showed me the need for every type of personality and that there is room for everyone. Understanding the need to accept those who thought differently than I did was like the sky opening up.
